I have noticed in some Received headers that part of the sentence is "with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6824)".
This I understand is something to do with smtpsvc.dll but I have been unable to find much information about it.
Does anybody know what its purpose is.
Thanks

Hi there,
this simply means that one of the machines that relayed the message was running a Microsoft SMTP server. It is the server simply identifying itself.

OK, I see, the answer was more simple than I originally thought.
Thanks for the reply
